Free patterns on web

Who seek, thou findeth, and I found it in less than a minute. A pattern that I had stitched a long time ago and had given to a christian friend as a gift. A praying hands.  I see it every sunday in our church, with a message in dutch that says: "Onderschaat nooit het kracht van gebed". which means: Do not underestimate the power of prayer. Glad I found it, thanks to http://www.faith-makeitreal.com/ .

I've just joined a local sewing club around town

If it was a year ago, I wouldn't dare joining a sewing club. Not locally or anywhere else in world. I was so unsure about my own works and my self confidence was at its lowest point. I'm glad I did join the club. I've met new people who shares the same interest just like me. Its my first time in the club and I am already enjoying it. It looks like there is no more room for homesickness and feeling alone again. God is Good all the time. He leads me always to the right path.

To be continued

A good two hours of searching and trying out responsive, clean and lovely backgound is not easy. As much as I'd love themes with green and yellow motiff, all those blocking colors are not really pleasant to the eyes.  Its again temporary although de design is not bad at all, kind of boring says my hubby but. at least it is clutter free. I'll leave it like this for awhile.

Laundry day

Tweaking up my blog while the laundry machine is up and running and the big casserole of soup is boiling. then catch up on my project later after a big lunch and a quick trip to the supermarket.

Not ready for a big move

I'm positive I'm not yet ready to move, so I think its best to explore more possibilities to just focus on my input right now and here in there a bit of a tweak or pimping activities. With upcoming big events like our Evangelization plan this summer in the church, Vacation to France next week;Plus other festivities planned where we should be present as guest or participants I don't think its the best time to add more stress to my already limited time. Times like this are the best, because it brings out the best in me. Even if I have times when I'd like to freak out, I'd still manage to calm down and make myself as scarce as possible. So I guess, I'll be out again most of the time, although my hand works shall always finds time probably in between meals or before bedtime. Nevertheless, I'll be publishing output from time to time. Anyway I've just started with  my pinterest photo yesterday.

Sew much fun

It is normally summer since June 21, according to astronomical calendar of Belgium. But the sun is on vacation somewhere I supposed. I hope it comes back very soon. My flower beds are not in good shape. The only consolation I have is getting more craft done than ever before during months like this. Friday was  SEW MUCH FUN. I've sewn a new house dress, I mean new color and new fabric but old patterns stashed.

sewn in just two hours

new color

This is my first attempt last year , I worked longer with it coz its too elastic, and I needed to use double needle which I've had a bit of stress in the first place. Anyway it turns out really nice and fits marvelously that I wear it as Sunday dress instead. Since I discovered that because of my wide built and extra baggage, wearing a straight cut is the best style for me. Knowing our style is very important, so I've learned. I used to be nonchalance, I don't care what people says before. And I certainly have zero knowledge about fashion. I admit that I been infected by the trends and hasn't cured ever since.

This is my stashed pattern, so simple and so easy (source: knipmode special- may 2011)

I also shopped last saturday for my new cross stitch project, the one I converted from pinterest photo. Glad I have more threads in my stashed kit and I didn't have to buy a lot. I've also started a SAL which I will make for my cross stitichers group. My Country clock is finished, all I have to do is take some photos and publish it to my finished pieces.

Stitched - A - Day - Away

I didn't mind the bad weather we have had for 2 days. But I missed going to the market today, afraid of catching rain druppels. I missed my weekly dose of fresh fish well. I stitched the day away and works on this old stashed Country kitchen clock sampler, designed by The Cross Stitchers. I will try to finish this tomorrow, then rest my eyes for a day or two and probably do some sewing.

I made a little renovation here in my blog too. Lucky I still found my free samples stashed in my harddisk. I feel guilty sometimes when I get a lot of free patterns, fabric stashed and sometimes great ideas from crafty people on pinterest. I know I still have lots of sampler somewhere in my memory bank. I've joined 3 crafty groups also just this month. I guess I am now ready to meet people outside my comfort zone.

converted photos from pinterest

Haven't done this before, but I just love it that I cannot help converting photos from pinterest. 'tis for my personal use anyway and I have no plans on selling or reproducing it. I just wanted to show how thankful I am that I discover it. It really makes me crazy and I really really love it. As soon as I finished finishing touches to my secret gardens, and my stitch-a-clock I'm gonna start working with this, alternatively with a small flower and of course my stitch a photo and loads of sewing things.

Crazy about pinterest

I can't help but love pinterest very much. I have found a pattern that I have lost during the floods in my hometown (Laguna). I been too busy the whole week looking for some patterns I couldn't find anywhere. Now I have found it plus a lot more. Unfortunately my compact camera gave up and I couldn't take a good shots with my android phone. Have lots of fun sewing a girl summer dress courtesy of Zoom en zo . I'll post some photos very soon. My friends stool hoes which I cut and sew without pattern is also nearly finished and I got to see her tomorrow to see if it fits. Now I am considering the possibilty of moving in a new web host or try a little bit of decorating my blog. I'm kinda tired of having the same interior ever since I started with blogger. So i'll be experementing with layouts and features starting now.

Another T.G.I.F

Just another TGIF :) only this time its : Today God is First. I've worked a little bit on our church website which has been static since November last year. When I was away and up to now, it was a forgotten site, ignored and completely abandoned. I pray for more wisdom to continue working on it, even if my language is not 100 percent correct. Dutch is a beautiful language, but I am still in learning process. Here it is: Our church website . Which I started late last year, finally launched in the web, but not too much activity. May God help me and provide words of wisdom.

My Eva dress is done

After less than a week of speculating I finally finished my version of Eva dress from Your Style Rocks. As you can see from my previous post, it was not good the first time I tested the pattern in a wollen fabric.
This time I chooses a medium heavy tricot jersey in rustic color. It fits really good in me. Although my additional baggages shows a little more than necessary. Anyway it is my type of style and the color brings the best out of my natural brown color. Long time ago, I wouldn't dare wear such colors, coz I think it made me more darker. But then it suits me really, or (I thought it does). I'll probably wear this on Sunday and test the reaction of my friends. I might add some more photos as well.

By the way I ditched the yoke this time coz my fabric is a little too heavy already.

Pinned sewing ideas

Well, these are particularly my kind of style but the ideas are not mine. I just pinned it from pinterest. Don't you wanna find yours?

Like this one pinned from Ikat  it is quite simple but elegant. Another one from eshakti.com, very lovely.
This one from craftsy  is also a very nice day dress for all seasons.

T.G.I.F

"Thank God its finished". My test pattern is finished, it doesn't yield a perfect result but then I'm on my way to my greatest challenge of being able to sew something lots of people have perfectly done.  This is what I been upto since 3 o'clock this afternoon. Testing a pattern of Eva dress. Technically I was wrong right from the beginning, downloading a bigger size, which I cannot help it coz even if I buy dresses here in Europe, be it in Holland, Germany or here in Belgium,  it doesn't fit good all the time. Hence the German size of 44 is a lot bigger than size 44 from Burda pattern. But then it also depends on what fabric we are talking about.

Here: I used a light wollen fabric which is not really good for this style. I wasn't able to get the draping right plus I need to add 2 centemeters before adding it. I look so very fat and plumpy. The yoke doesn't look good either. Nevertheless I am positive that if I alter my pattern a little bit and used the right material it should be alright. Not bad for a beginner. I know I still have a lot to learn but the good thing is : I was not so frustrated right away as before when things didn't go well. I didn't expect also that this fabric will turn out good when its sewn into something. Now I have a second challenge which is to salvage it and transform it into a wearable one. Tomorrow is gonna be another day full of surprises and blessings for me. I wish you all the same. Now, I have some ironing works to do. :)

Eva dress challenge

Spent 3 hours trying to figure out a certain pattern but I still am not finished with it. I called it the Eva dress challenge. I fell inlove with it long time ago and since I got free fabric to try spend or waste my time in it, didn't think twice. Thanks to Your style rocks . I'll work on it till I get it right. Its probably the biggest challenge I ever do so far in terms of sewing, so help me God.

Spring is finally here

Since spring finally showed up last Sunday, there's more and more works coming up and before

Fine week

What a sunny Sunday morning. Unfortunately we  are going to miss the sunday service today because of a planned day trip later with my co-volunteers at Openhart We are going to visit a clog museum. I'm curious what it is.
Anyway I had a very calm week worth and well spend cleaning my cupboards and mending old sheets. I ditched more than half of my plaids for the sofa co'z its not going to look good anymore on the leather canopy we just ordered. I hope I didn't make a huge mistake on doing so. (Buying a leather sofa I mean) Some says its cold in the winter. I supposed I have to use quilted plaids this time around, another brilliant idea to learn to quilt. Hubby used to be content that I am as busy as a bee. He is kind of worried lately that I don't go out much with friends anymore. What can I do if my friends likes football games, parties and music festivals, it is typically Belgium.  Practically nobody as geek as me in my circuit. Besides I see them more often than necessary on facebook. Hubby felt sorry that he has to go to his music repetetie 3 times a week while I stayed home. He is not interested in going to museum or any exhibit at all. This time he agreed to go with me. He will probably gets bored to death. Its my way of explaining him what would anyone feel doing things not interesting to them at all without using words. I may try learning to quilt but shall never ever try reading musical notes.

Well if there is no twister or floods out there, I'd say  "folks enjoy a day out or enjoy another crafty day".
